Nigerian Idol press briefing.

Popular Nigeria reality television show, Nigerian Idol, which is in its third season, will be starting auditions on the 13th of October at the Rockview Hotel Royal and ends with Lagos on the 10th of November at 'Within the Box' studio.

The show was formally launched yesterday, 19th September at a press conference in Ikeja and the dynamic, young and fresh OAP who is popularly known as Illrymz will host the show for the second time running.

The audition would also run through the following audition cities as follows;

Port Harcourt, 20th Oct.

Hotel Presidential, Aba Road, GRA phase2

Owerri, 27th Oct.

Imo Concorde Hotel,

Owerri - Port Harcourt road

New Owerri layout.

Benin, 3rd Nov.

Excalibur Hotel,

 23B Etete Road, GRA, beside NNPC, Benin City.

At the conference, the Managing Director of OMG, Rotimi Pedro, says, “The group puts Nigeria on the world map again", as the show which was formally aired in 11 countries before would be aired in four extra countries including Canada, the prize sum have been increased from 15 million to 20 million from the previous season and the audition cities have been increased from four to five. There was also a new development about the show and the chief commercial official of Etisalat, Mr Wael Ammar took time to explain this development. For the first time ever, the reality show would have a blackberry app where users could go and download content such as videos and pictures.  He also said that Etisalat remains committed to giving the Nigerian youth a wonderful experience. There were performances from Mercy, Naomi, Joe Blue, Onochei and they performed to the delight of the guests present.

The high point of the event was the announcement of a 'Press Idol' competition which Daniel Oramali of Hit on TV won the sum of $1,000 for his brilliant and scintillating performance of Joe's “No one else”, Efe Tommy and Gbenga Shaba also won $500 and $200 for taking 2^nd and 3^rd place respectively.
